| Headline: | Business optimism is rising Back to Top |
| Description: | Business optimism is bouncing back from the marked declines seen last summer and autumn – but remains below the levels seen a year ago.
Company performance, profitability and investment is much stronger in the service sector than in manufacturing according to the Institute of Directors' new report. This is in line with the recent official data showing the manufacturing sector slowing again after a brief recovery last year. Graeme Leach, Chief Economist at the IoD, said: "The latest survey is surprisingly upbeat. Company performance and optimism is very strong in the service sector. Unsurprisingly, company performance and optimism is notably weaker in the manufacturing sector. " |
