I spend a lot of time on the Internet, using it for research and leisure. I enjoy working, particularly in environments where I am in direct contact with clients and other staff, as I feel confident and relaxed around new people and as such am able to effectively interact with them. For my leisure activities I participate in various team and individual sports. I was able to combine my passion for sport with further personal development by becoming treasurer for the University of Exeter Ski and Snowboard Club. The club organises two holidays per year with an average uptake of between 80 and 100 people per trip. As treasurer it was my responsibility to oversee the payment and banking process for the holidays as well as liase with various local and national companies to arrange sponsorship deals for the club. In my last year at university I was responsible for negotiating and implementing such deals with Walkabout Pubs, Ski Alpine and Urban Surfer, a local clothing company based in Exeter, totalling £9000. I divide my leisure time equally between socialising in groups and spending time to myself and am very comfortable in either situation. I am also a keen traveller having spent 6 months abroad during my gap year before university. I have just returned from Africa where I spent 8 weeks travelling around Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. During this time I spent 4 weeks participating in voluntary conservation work at the Bushman Rock Conservation Reserve, Zimbabwe. I aided with feeding programs, general maintenance and poacher deterrent programmes. This allowed me to give something back to the local community and help preserve the future of a number of endangered animals. The personal satisfaction gained through such an experience was greatly rewarding and character building, as I was able to help those less fortunate than myself REFERENCES John Ryder Johnathan Passaportis Hospitality Services Bushman Rock Reserve University of Exeter Ruwa The Queens Drive Harare Exeter Zimbabwe Devon EX4 4QJ TEL: 07968403467 Email: Bushman@zol.co.zw |
